BEE EXPERIENCE

Nature’s Little Helpers was founded 15 years ago by fish farmer, Tim Wright. Started as a part time hobby business, it has grown over the years to become a full time occupation and a one-stop-shop for all beekeeping needs.

As well as selling beehives, and the equipment & clothing that goes with it, we produce our own honey and make a wide range of skincare products using our honey and beeswax, including candles, soaps, balms, propolis ointment and pollen.

We also raise over 100 colonies of bees each year, for sale, and for our own use, headed by young Buckfast Queens, that we breed on site at our honey farm.

Training in the art of beekeeping is provided here too, and Experience Afternoons are also catered for, to allow people to meet the bees, see them
work their magic, and get a feel for this amazing hobby.

Tim Wright – Founder, Managing Director, Beekeeper

Tim, aka the Lord of the Bees, founded Nature’s Little Helpers 12 years ago as a hobby. Since then, he has grown the business into a
one-stop-shop for all beekeeping needs, ditching his full time job in printing in the process, in order to manage the Bees full time.

Having started off life as a fish farmer from Wigan, he loved the outdoor life so much that he took on an allotment, and after being denied permission to keep pigs or chickens there, he enquired about bees.

After much negotiation he was allowed 2 hives on his plot, and following an 8 week beekeeping course, was taken under the wing of seasonal Bee Inspector Pete Shaw and mentored in the art of beekeeping.

Tim has grown the business with Pete’s help and now manages over 200 hives, producing honey, wax, candles, cosmetics and all sorts of other bee products.

He also runs training days for wannabe beekeepers, teaching them everything they need to know about their own colonies, and providing a certificate and bee gifts.

For those who just want to say hello to the bees and find out how they work their magic, Tim holds experience days regularly throughout the season.

His favourite pastime is practising the art of Chi Kung amidst the buzzing of the Bees around their hives and connecting to nature. More than anything he loves the process of Queen rearing and producing colonies, or ‘nucs’, of bees for others so they too can enjoy this amazing hobby.
